The Tatnall School seeks a warm and enthusiastic Early Childhood assistant teacher for the 2025-26 school year. Informed by current research and developmentally appropriate practice, assistant teachers will collaborate closely with their divisional teammates to design, implement, and assess innovative learning experiences for young children. A qualified candidate will value an active and collaborative learning environment that centers the student experience. This full time position reports to the Head of Early Childhood.
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum associate’s degree in early childhood education or related field
A student-centered approach to education
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Current Delaware certification as at least an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher, or the ability to obtain it
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Assist in planning playful and child-centered learning experiences that align with an established curricular framework.
Assist in assessing student learning through careful observation, and document that learning through photographs, videos, anecdotal records, and work samples.
Assist in maintaining a safe and intentionally prepared classroom environment.
Assist admissions by welcoming families, participating in back-to-school nights, open houses, and social events to promote The Tatnall School.
Assume a primary teaching role in the absence of the teacher or when needed.
Serve as a counselor for four weeks of summer camp between June and August 2026, with the option to work additional weeks.
Comply with all regulations as set forth by Delaware’s Office of Child Care Licensing.
