Whitby School is seeking a dynamic and collaborative Educational Technology and Design Innovation Teacher to integrate technology and design thinking across our K-8 International Baccalaureate (IB) program.

The specialist will be responsible for:

• Digital Literacy and Responsibility: Developing and implementing a comprehensive curriculum that fosters digital literacy and promotes responsible technology use among K-8 students.
• Technology Integration: Integrating technology education, including coding and programming foundations and app development, into existing units of study to enhance inquiry-based learning.
• Design Thinking Curriculum Development: Designing and implementing a scope and sequence for pre-engineering design thinking, aligned with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and the International Society for Technology in Education standards (ISTE) The ideal candidate will be an innovative educator with a strong understanding of K-8 pedagogy, and current best practices in educational technology and engineering design thinking principles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, Instructional Technology, or a related field. Graduate degree is a plus.
• 5-8 years of K-8 teaching experience, with expertise in technology integration and design thinking.
• Skilled in curriculum development, specifically for digital literacy, responsible technology use, coding, app development, and pre-engineering education.
• Strong grasp of K-8 inquiry-based pedagogy, and current research in educational technology and the engineering design cycle.
• Passionate about advancing design thinking and technology education.
• Experience teaching inquiry-based and interdisciplinary curricula.
• Exceptional leadership and collaborative abilities
• Proficiency with ISTE standards, NGSS engineering standards, and the engineering habits of mind.
• Familiarity with instructional frameworks like IB, Common Core, Project-Based Learning, Design Thinking, and Understanding by Design.
