SCHOOL DESCRIPTION:

Rumsey Hall School is a PK-9 boarding and day school located in Washington, Connecticut. POSITION SUMMARY:

• Reports directly to the Upper School Director
• Full-time teaching position in Middle School Science, with an emphasis on physical science and earth science
• Boarding school role with on-campus housing provided
• Opportunity to engage in various aspects of student life

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Teaching:

• Instruct physical science and earth science classes for grades 6-8
• Provide individualized support to students
• Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
• Use varied instructional methods to meet diverse learning needs
• Assess student progress and provide timely feedback
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues
• Create a positive classroom environment conducive to learning

Residential Education Duties:

• Live on campus and serve on a team supervising a student dormitory
• Create a safe and nurturing residential environment
• Dorm duty is twice per week (weekdays) and every 4th weekend

Coaching:

• Coach three seasons in athletic program (head coaching and/or assistant coaching, depending on experience and interest)

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Science, Science Education, or related field
• Academic and teaching experience in physical science, physics, chemistry, earth science, and or engineering preferred
• Strong passion for working with middle school students
• Potential and desire to contribute to the full school program
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Enthusiasm for the boarding school lifestyle
