Morristown Beard School seeks a dynamic and dedicated full-time History/Social Sciences teacher for grades 9-12 for the 2026-2027 academic year. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and adopt a progressive, multidisciplinary, and student-centered approach in the classroom. This individual will also contribute positively to our school’s supportive and caring environment, fostering a respectful, equitable, and inclusive classroom culture aligned with the values of MBS: Personal Responsibility, Awareness of Diverse Perspectives, Engagement, Tenacity, Independence of Mind, Humor and Humility.
The successful candidate will:
Be willing to teach a range of history courses in grades 9-12
Demonstrate expertise in historical practice and a rich knowledge of specialized content area, ideally in European and non-Western History
Differentiate instruction to meet varied learning needs, interests, and readiness of students
Exhibit strong interpersonal skills and willingness to collaborate and communicate readily with colleagues
Communicate effectively with students and families about student progress
Identify and support students’ social, emotional, and behavioral learning needs
Engage actively in school life by participating in clubs, sports, and extracurricular activities
Responsibilities
Teach 4 classes
Serve as an advisor
Support the School’s activities program
Rotate through supervisory duties, such as detention, dismissal, study hall, etc.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree; advanced degree preferred
Minimum of 2 years teaching experience
