The essential duties and responsibilities of the Groundskeeper, include but are not limited to:
Mowing, fertilizing, and edging all Taft grounds.
Planting and pruning all Taft trees, plants and shrubs.
Cleaning up debris, such as garbage or any school waste.
Leaf removal.
Pesticide application.
Irrigation maintenance.
Operating turf equipment in a safe manner and on a variety of terrains.
Light excavation work using mechanical equipment.
Removing snow and ice using mechanical equipment and manual labor.
Operating heavy equipment, such as a backhoe, loader or trucks as needed.
Preparing school grounds for all Taft events, including Grandparents’ Day, Alumni Weekend, Parents’ Weekend and Graduation.
Ability to work after hours, weekends and emergency call-ins.
Assisting the Grounds Manager and Director of Facilities as needed.
Minimum Desired Qualifications:
Experience in grounds maintenance.
Ability to lift 65 lbs, climb a ladder and perform heavy manual labor.
Stamina to maintain continuous physical effort for the duration of a shift on a regular basis.
High School diploma or equivalent.
Ability to interact and work with staff, faculty, students and outside vendors in a friendly, effective manner.
