Friends Select School is seeking a long term substitute Upper School Spanish teacherto join our dynamic World Languages department for part of the 2025-2026 school year, from approximately October 31, 2025 to April 20, 2026. Friends Select’s World Languages department is an environment where expertise and autonomy are greatly valued and where each teacher is able to design their own curriculum and include teaching techniques that best fit their own talents, skills, and experience. The ideal candidate will be warm, student-focused, and will be able to enjoy working in a close-knit, collegial environment.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teach 4 sections of Upper School Spanish: Spanish 1, Spanish 3 (2 sections), and Spanish 5
Take a friendly and collaborative approach to teaching in order to create an inclusive environment for all students
In addition to direct teaching responsibilities, potentially serve as an Upper School Advisor
Actively participate in additional Upper School activities, such as student clubs and committees
Consult with the Director of City Curriculum to cultivate relationships with city institutions to enhance their coursework
Qualifications
Experience teaching, upper school grades preferred
Fluent in Spanish, with experience teaching literature and culture of the Spanish-speaking world to second language learners of Spanish
A commitment to social justice, anti-racism and Quaker values
Experience and proficiency with online learning tools
