POSITION SUMMARY:
To organize, coordinate, and promote a comprehensive girls’ tennis program to meet the needs and interests of the school community. To provide effective leadership that will ensure a positive learning environment in the sport of Girls’ Tennis and stress the importance of academic achievement and social responsibility, while modeling a high degree of ethics and professionalism. This position reports to the Director of Athletics.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Establish and monitor rules, regulations and procedures as needed for the student-athletes participating which conform to the school, NJSIAA, NJISAA, Somerset County and Skyland Conference policies.
· In conjunction with the Athletic Director, attract and retain students that are interested in your respective sport.
· Instruct and advise athletes on eligibility, rules and regulations, sportsmanship, and citizenship.
· Prepare forms, reports, inventory, and recommendations as required.
· Compile and maintain accurate individual and team performance records.
· Establish procedures for communicating with team and parents/guardians.
· Plan, organize, and implement the teaching of fundamentals, strategies, rules, and proper conditioning.
· Ensure that adequate supervision is provided for all students involved in the program. This includes traveling on a bus to and from practices and/or games.
· Provide for the safety of participants by inspecting facilities and equipment and being aware of environmental conditions.
· Issue, collect, inventory, and store equipment and uniforms.
· Instruct participants in safety procedures and in the need to report injuries to the coach and/or athletic trainer immediately and implement appropriate procedures for handling injury situations.
· Assume responsibility for locker rooms and other areas used by the team.
· Maintain necessary confidentiality of medical conditions as appropriate.
· In conjunction with the Director of Athletics and Athletic Administrator, maintain a schedule that conforms to the NJSIAA, NJISAA, Somerset County and Skyland Conference.
· Other duties as assigned or required by the demands of the position and administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
· Demonstrated experience and competencies for performance responsibilities in tennis, with preference given to; candidates who have coached at the collegiate and/or high school level, club coaching experience preferred, and competed at the collegiate level or possess substantial high school experience.
· Must maintain annual certification in NJSIAA Coaching Coursework Requirements; Fundaments in Coaching, First Aid, CPR, AED, Concussion, Heat Acclimatization, Implicit Bias and Be Kind training.
· Availability until the conclusion of practice and/or for home and away athletic contests which may occur at night or on weekends.
· Connected to the world of New Jersey Youth Tennis, High School, USTA and Club.
· Required criminal background check and proof of US citizenship or legal alien status.
