Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy, & Research Institute (“Talcott”) is seeking a part-time Front Office Coordinator to serve as the critical first point of contact for the Organization. This role is responsible for creating a warm, welcoming, and professional environment for all students, families, faculty and staff, and visitors. The Coordinator is essential for ensuring timely information flow to leadership and providing critical assistance for student movement and campus operations.
In this key position, you will own the front office coordination and hospitality function, serving as the voice and face of Talcott. Your core duties involve managing the reception area by greeting all guests and ensuring security procedures are followed. You will be the first point of contact, professionally managing the multi-line telephone system and general email inquiries. You will also expertly triage all urgent messages or situations to the appropriate Dean, Director, or Manager in a clear and timely manner. Beyond the front desk, you will provide assistance with student and campus operations, including chaperoning younger students (K-8) to and from classrooms across the mountaintop campus, ensuring their safety and adherence to school protocols. You will also handle basic administrative duties, such as data entry, photocopying, and preparing materials for distribution. The full position description is available here.

The ideal candidate is highly reliable and has a professional presence that demonstrates exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuinely warm, patient demeanor, especially when interacting with children and parents. Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or equivalent and proven customer service experience, with an ability to efficiently manage a multi-line phone system. Prior experience in a school or educational/STEM non-profit environment is preferred. This is a part-time, hourly position with a typical schedule of Monday-Friday, 8:45 am-3:15 pm, when school or other programs are in session. The hourly salary range is $17.00 - $19.00.
