St. Mark’s Episcopal School is conducting a search for an STEM Lab teacher for the 2022-2023 school year. St. Mark’s, established in 1979, is a coeducational parish day school, now serving over 440 students from age two through Grade 8 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The foundation of St. Mark’s program is to provide students with balanced exposure to academics, arts, athletics, and spiritual life. At all levels, our students will be, as our mission states, academically enriched in a nurturing Christian environment.
St. Mark’s seeks to ensure all children learn the value of their innate talents. Through enrichments in technology, art, music, and theater, students learn to express their creativity. For this position, PK 4- 6th grade classes aim to teach digital natives instructional skills from keyboarding to coding using both our computer lab and STEM SmartLab. Middle school elective classes; including photography, digital art, and STEAM; help students hone particular skills . The teacher who holds this position also helps to lead our Lower School Keyboarding Club and Middle School Inventors’ Club after school. It is important to note that the Inventors’ Club includes out-of-class competitions.

The STEM Lab teacher will:
- Create a welcoming, creative space for children of all levels of technological abilities.
- Teach courses for grades PK-6 computer skills and grades 6-8 digital photography, STEAM, and/or graphic art.
- Serve as an advisor for middle school advisory.
- Work collaboratively with other teachers to plan lessons, produce school-wide events, and administer standardized testing.
- Lead the participation of students in local competitions with which the school has been previously affiliated.
- Organize after school clubs for lower school and middle school students.
- Chaperone an overnight class trip.
Preferred Professional Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- A firm understanding of differentiated instruction, 21st century skills, 3D printing, coding, emerging technologies, MakerSpaces and project-based learning.
- Interest & experience in the “maker arts,” DIY, & fabrication
- Previous teaching experience.
- Familiarity with independent school culture.
- Comfort within a faith-based school.
