The Bishop’s School seeks an engaging, collaborative, dynamic and learner-centered mathematics teacher for grades 7-12, beginning August 1, 2022. The department seeks candidates enthusiastic about working on and with teams, integrating technology into instruction, and developing highly-engaging approaches to the problem-solving pedagogical approach of the school. Candidates with expertise in design thinking, applied engineering and robotics, maker spaces, experiential curriculum, machine learning and/or interdisciplinary program design would have the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the School’s Wu Tsai Center for Creative Sciences.
The Bishop’s School promotes an integrated, student-centered approach to mathematics education that utilizes collaborative problem sets to build applied mathematical skills. The goals of this approach are to foster curiosity, encourage active student engagement and collaboration in the classroom, and direct students to take ownership of their learning. In addition to teaching mathematics, faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor to students.
Desired Qualifications
A bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in mathematics or a related field is required; a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience is expected. Interest in supporting current co-curricular programs and professional learning communities is also highly desirable. Close consideration will be given to candidates with a background and interest in developing courses in Multivariable Calculus and Linear Algebra.
