The Position
Cardigan Mountain School seeks an experienced and committed educator to serve as the School’s Music Director for the 2024-2025 school year. The Music Director is a full-time, 10-month position and is responsible for the implementation of the music program for Cardigan Mountain School. This position includes both the instrumental and choral direction of the school’s band and chorus. The ideal candidate will bring a history of collaborative, self-directed work as well as experience teaching in a music classroom.
Specific Responsibilities
The Music Director:
- Teach music classes
- Increase students’ skillset and understanding of music performance, music appreciation, music history, and music theory
- Differentiate classroom instruction based on student readiness
- Promote and direct the band and glee club
- Plan, rehearse, and direct students in musical performances
- Manage materials and equipment
- Coordinate the chapel music program
- Organize and supervise private music lessons
- Coach an athletic season or perform comparable non-athletic responsibilities
- Participate in our clubs program
- Serve as an advisor to students
- Supervise a dormitory floor
