Leadership Instructor
Houston Christian High School (HC) is accepting applications for the position of Leadership Instructor. The Leadership Instructor will build a foundation for spiritual growth and leadership development through teaching the five dimensions of leadership at various levels.This instructor will demonstrate qualifications and experience to instruct a variety of courses and topics within a 9-12 educational setting that develop students’ faith in relevant and meaningful ways, linking leadership and faith. This position reports to the Bible Department Chair and Principal, and works in collaboration with the Director of The Bush Center on BCSL programs, other Bible teachers and Faculty as required. This is a full-time, exempt position. Experience in teaching different levels of HS Bible is beneficial. The specific teaching assignment will be determined according to department needs.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Religion, History, Leadership or other relevant area, Master’s Degree preferred.
- Teacher certification or equivalent preferred.
- Classroom experience.
- Proficient in basic technology applications, specifically Google Apps knowledge (i.e. Google Drive, Google Docs, Gmail).
- Demonstrates successful leadership experience and a well-developed knowledge of leadership training in the five dimensions adopted at the BCSL.
- Excellent verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Represent the school in a positive light.
- Committed to the mission and values of Houston Christian High School.
Qualified candidates must be skilled and have a passion to provide classroom instruction. Effective organizational and presentation skills are necessary. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills, a willingness to mentor students and the ability to incorporate 21st Century Skills into the curriculum. The successful candidate will be energetic and creative and possess a vision for excellence in academics at the high school level, a strong work ethic, and a desire to achieve success. Contribution to the life of the school outside the classroom is expected. Occasional after school, evening or weekend hours will be necessary. Experience and willingness to coach an athletic sport is beneficial and could be compensated with a stipend.
