Mission: Waring School is a co-educational, college preparatory day school of 170 students, grades 6-12 in Beverly, MA. Waring’s mission is “To create and sustain a community of lifelong learners who are working together for the individual and common good.” Since the time of our founding, French is Waring’s foreign language of study and much of the school’s travel program is centered on the francophone world.
Summary: Waring School seeks an enthusiastic and collaborative French teacher who is experienced in teaching solely in the target language to join the French department. The position includes teaching up to three sections of French, from Débutant to Avancé and AP French, and ages of 6th through 12th grade, depending on experience. Other classroom teaching responsibilities could include teaching French Immersion Humanities, depending on interest and experience. **Note: There may be other teaching opportunities that arise for next year; and candidates who have other areas of experience (such as the teaching of Humanities or coaching of Speech/Debate) are encouraged to let us know.
The successful candidate is a lifelong learner looking to thrive in a small learning community. Our classes are small and encourage collaboration and discussion. Our French courses are taught in immersion style and range from beginners to AP. We ask our students to engage daily with all 4 skills: reading, writing, listening and speaking. In addition, we ask our students to participate in all-school events in French such as class skits, the Grand Concours and the annual French poetry contest.
As Waring faculty, this teacher’s role may also involve other aspects of the student experience such as acting as an academic advisor (called a ‘Tutor’), Athletics, co-curricular activities, Experiential Learning (through our Endterm and Camping Trip programs), Debate, Theater, or Robotics (housed in our school’s dedicated Makerspace).

Job Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in French, with Master’s degree and/or two years teaching experience preferred;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate adolescent learners and to work well with colleagues;
- Familiarity with Google suite, including Google classroom, preferred;
- Familiarity with digital teaching and learning tools preferred;
- Participation in annual all-school events such as Program Night, Graduation, Convocation;
- Participation in Experiential Learning aspects of our program, including Camping Trip and Endterm, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage;
- Attendance at co-curricular aspects of our school program, e.g. All-School Meetings, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage;
- Participation in Faculty Meetings and Professional Days, as agreed upon based on FTE work percentage;
