Prek - Grade 12 TA Positions
Want to earn your M.Ed. while teaching? Consider Berwick Academy and Lesley University’s Teaching Apprentice Program (TAP) which offers a purposeful blend of full time hands-on teaching experiences and graduate courses.
Each Berwick Academy TA works under the guidance of experienced mentors for an entire academic year. Throughout the year each TA has two different teaching placements where they build lasting connections with students and colleagues. The TAs receive continuous feedback from their mentor teacher and the program director. In addition, the cohort of TAs meet for weekly seminars where they learn about teaching strategies and discuss classroom experiences.
Berwick TAs are also active participants in the wider Berwick Academy community: participating in parent - teacher confernces, attending faculty meetings, participating in professional development opportunities and/or coaching athletic teams.
Berwick's teaching apprentices develop the knowledge and skills essential for successful teaching while earning legitimate work experience at one of New England’s finest independent schools. The program will begin in June, and is open to aspiring educators in the elementary, middle, and high school levels (PK-12).
Application Process: Submit a resume and personal statement to Alice Lynch at Berwick Academy to begin the application process. Last round of applications closes on 4/25/18. Applicants are encouraged to submit all materials and visit campus as soon as possible.
Applicant Qualifications: The Berwick Academy / Lesley University teaching apprentice program is designed for highly motivated, intellectually curious adults who want to participate in a comprehensive and enriching program. No prior teaching experience is required. We encourage people of varying ages, experiences, and backgrounds to apply.
We are looking for the following:
* A successful graduate of an accredited undergraduate program, having earned a B.S. or B.A. (3.0 or higher)
* Adults dedicated to meaningful experiences with children
* Adults committed to becoming a teacher
