Grade 6-12 Digital Photography Teacher Job Description
NSU University School is seeking a full-time Digital Photography teacher to teach both introductory and advanced level courses in digital photography, including skills in digital editing, graphic design, and photo journalism. The teacher will lead student teams in producing content for digital platforms, competitions, and art exhibitions. While teaching certification is preferred, it is not required, and qualified candidates will demonstrate a willingness to learn about education and the ability to help students access the training necessary for growth and achievement.

Responsibilities
- Teach Middle and Upper School Digital Photography classes.
- Work closely with the Directors and Visual Arts team to develop and align curricula.
- Implement best practices in art education pedagogy based on student-centered learning and responsive teaching methods.
- Communicate consistently with parents and school counselors about student progress.
- Create a welcoming environment that reflects the school’s mission of challenging each student to achieve academic excellence within a nurturing atmosphere.
- Attend department, team, and faculty meetings.
- Attend other events as directed by the Director of Arts.
- Research and identify opportunities for student participation in competitions, festivals, workshops, and conventions.
- Plan, organize, and promote field trips to student competitions and festivals.
- In partnership with the OIIT Department, continuously organize, maintain, and update the Digital Photography resources.
- Develop and implement policies and procedures for student use of materials and equipment.
- Design and implement rubrics for evidence-based evaluation of student performance and mastery.
- Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities provided by the school and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
- Identify opportunities to highlight student works in the community.
- Curate artwork for campus gallery spaces and photography for digital platforms like social media and school’s yearbook and newspaper.
- Manage and oversee extracurricular photography programming.
Ideal candidate will
- Operate the components of our digital photography equipment (cameras, lighting, backdrops, etc.) as well as digital editing software (Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, etc.).

Qualifications
- Bachelor or advanced degree in visual arts, a related field, or a field relevant to the duties of the position with significant experience working with Digital Photography.
- Preferably 2 or more years of teaching experience, including curriculum design with integration of media arts in the classroom.
- Knowledge of effective instructional techniques and innovative modes of course delivery adaptable to a variety of learning styles.
- Demonstrated ability to create, advocate for, and execute a long-term vision for programmatic growth.
- Strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to articulate technical information to non-technical students and faculty.
- Experience working in a team-oriented environment.
- Demonstrated ability to network and build a team of well-rounded media arts professionals in the community.
- Willingness to adapt in a fast-paced work environment where roles and responsibilities are flexible.
