The Nightingale-Bamford School is seeking a dynamic, dedicated educator to join our Physical Education Department as a leave replacement from December 2025 through April 2026. We are looking for individuals who are eager, creative, and flexible, and who are excited to work with students in grades K–12 in a collaborative and supportive environment. This position reports directly to the Director of Athletics and Physical Education and is an exempt salaried position, long term leave replacement role.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
- Teach physical education across all three divisions: Middle and Upper Schools
- Implement a curriculum that is tailored to students individual strength and conditioning programs
- Develop creative and innovative Middle School and Upper School lesson plans with a focus on life long skills and growth
- Design engaging and relevant student-centered lessons
- Participate actively in school life; assemblies, advisory, clubs, faculty meetings, professional development, and other community events
- Must instill an enthusiasm for fitness in students
- Coach a minimum of two seasons of Middle or Upper School athletics (Volleyball Preferred)
- Perform other school duties as assigned
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in physical education
- Dual-certification in physical education and youth strength and conditioning preferred
- 3+ years experience teaching physical in a K-12 setting
- Possess excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, the ability to be flexible, and a passion for working with children
- Varsity level coaching experience
- CPR and first aid certification
- Demonstrated commitment to anti-racist work, equity and inclusion
- Experience engaging with and adapting to diverse learners
- Experience designing and implementing developmentally-appropriate and varied activities

SALARY
In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annualized base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $85,000. Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
