Position Summary

Fork Union Military Academy seeks a full-time Math Teacher to serve students in grades 7-12 and postgraduate level as assigned. This position is responsible for delivering clear, structured mathematics instruction in a college-preparatory environment. The Math Teacher will adhere to the mission of the school.

Key Responsibilities

• Teach assigned math courses in grades 7-12 and postgraduate level as needed.
• Prepare lesson plans, tests, quizzes, and instructional materials.
• Grade assignments and provide timely, constructive feedback.
• Maintain strong classroom standards and support student growth.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
• Participate in faculty meetings, department meetings, and school activities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field.
• Strong content knowledge in secondary mathematics.
• Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills.
• Ability to work effectively with adolescent boys in a structured environment.
• Will adhere to the mission of the school.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior classroom teaching experience.
• Virginia teaching license strongly preferred.
• Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to contribute to advising, coaching, or student activities preferred.

Physical and Work Conditions

Work is performed primarily in a classroom setting and includes regular standing, walking, speaking, and student supervision.

Fork Union Military Academy is a non-profit Christian boarding & day school that has been building young men in body, mind, and spirit since 1898, and attracts students from more than 30 states and 15 foreign countries. FUMA seeks dedicated faculty and staff professionals who see this school's mission as their own and will strive to support the values of the institution. The Academy offers our students a college preparatory curriculum in a military-style environment. Teaching contracts are generally for 9 months and all teachers are expected to participate in 2 outside activities in addition to teaching, such as sports coaching or student club sponsorship.
