JOB DESCRIPTION 

Cross Country Coach 

St. Anne School, an independent Catholic School in Laguna Niguel, is seeking an exceptional cross-country coach for our middle school program. We are looking for a dedicated, energetic, and motivated individual with a strong background in running to join our supportive faculty team. 

RESPONSIBILITIES: 

• Acts as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment. 
• Supports the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school, as well as the decisions made by the Board of Directors and Administrators. 
• Ensures the health, safety, and welfare of all students. 
• Maintains strict confidentiality on all school-related matters. 
• Follows all school policies and procedures as outlined in the Parent/Student Handbook and Employee Handbook. 

POSITION OVERVIEW: 

The Cross Country Coach will be responsible for developing and implementing training programs that support students of all ability levels, leading practices, preparing runners for competition, and attending all meets. The coach will foster discipline, teamwork, and a love of running while serving as a mentor and role model for our 5th- 8th grade student-athletes. 

SEASON: 

• Begins in August and ends in mid-to-late October with the final championship meet. 

TIME COMMITMENT: 

• Must be available Monday–Thursday.
• Hours range between 2:30 pm and 6:00 pm, depending on practice and meeting schedules. ? Must be available to attend all meets, which may occur outside regular practice hours. ? No practices or meets are scheduled during school breaks or holidays. 

QUALIFICATIONS: 

1. Reliable and able to commit fully to the season schedule. 
2. Previous experience in cross-country, distance running, or track & field—either as a coach or competitive runner. 
3. A passion for working with and mentoring children. 
4. Must pass a background check. 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Environment: 

Work is performed primarily outdoors, including trails, fields, and roads. 

Physical: 

Requires the physical ability to run or jog during practices, stand for extended periods, and perform physical demonstrations; ability to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or twist; to lift, carry, push, and pull moderate weights; and to verbally communicate effectively. 

Vision: 

Normal vision range with or without correction. 

Hearing: 

Normal hearing range with or without correction. 

This is a part-time, non-exempt position. Pay begins at $40 per hour.
