The Assistant Athletic Director is a 10-month administrative and faculty position reporting directly to the Athletic Director and to the Directors of Upper and Middle School Teaching and Learning. This position is responsible for supporting the ongoing growth and quality of the athletic program in addition to teaching and learning, providing vision and support for excellence in all areas of the student experience at The Williams School.
Key Responsibilities
Assistant Athletic Director Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the Athletic Director and Facilities Staff to ensure practices and games are set up and managed properly.
Assist the Athletic Director with team and bus scheduling.
Oversee athletic practices and games in coordination with the Athletic Director
Oversee the Dayharsh Fitness Center during the winter, three days a week.
Coach one sport.
Clean, maintain, and prepare all athletic equipment and uniforms.
Oversee student managers, scoreboard operators and videographers with set up, game announcements and music, working with the Sports Management Club
Obtain a Class A Passenger Bus License- provide student bus transportation as needed
Teaching and Supervision (2.5 classes and regular teaching duties- 0.5):
Teach one section of Physical Education/Health to middle school students
Teach two full time classes as needed in the middle and upper school
Supervise the Bulkeley Gym during a lunch period
Serve as a Co-Advisor
Oversee Sports Management Club
Employment Dates and Hours:
Employment Dates: August 15 – June 15th
Work Schedule: The typical work schedule falls Monday through Saturday between the hours of 8:00 AM and 6:00 PM, though hours may vary based on seasonal activities and institutional needs. Scheduling may include later start times or earlier departures on certain days depending on operational requirements.
Saturday Requirements: The Assistant Athletic Director is required to work three full Sports Days each athletic season and approximately two additional Saturdays per season to support athletic or institutional events.
Due to the nature of this exempt position, work hours may vary and may occasionally extend beyond the typical schedule as necessary to meet organizational needs.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have independent School teaching and coaching experience working with faculty, staff, parents, and students. In addition, the candidate will be a highly visible and engaged leader who is enthusiastically involved in the daily life of the school.
