The Grayson School: Front Desk Coordinator
Are you energized by being the person who connects people, solves problems, and keeps a fast-paced school running smoothly? Do you love creating exceptional first impressions and building meaningful relationships with students, families, and colleagues? Are you looking for a mission-driven role where your organization, initiative, and people skills make a visible impact every single day?
The Grayson School is an innovative, research-based learning institution guided by best practices in gifted education. Offering a Pre-K through grade 12 program with summer and enrichment classes open to the community, Grayson is the only “all gifted, all day” school of its kind within a 100-mile radius. The Grayson School provides high-ability learners with a setting where they can learn at a pace and level consistent with their abilities, collaborate with like-minded peers, and explore their unlimited potential, while also growing and thriving socially and emotionally.
This is a full-time front desk position, with hours of 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, including a lunch break. We offer a competitive benefits package, which includes paid time off, retirement contributions up to 6%, and other benefits. Many school holidays, including Winter Break and Spring Break, are paid, and summer hours are reduced.
We're looking for someone with excellent customer service skills, a professional attitude, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. In this position, you'll build relationships with students, families, faculty, and visitors while serving as the hub of daily activity at the school. You'll get to know everyone—from our youngest Pre-K students to our graduating seniors—and become a familiar, trusted presence in the daily life of the school.
You'll be the first impression we give to guests and visitors, and no two days will be the same. You’ll be the first stop for students who need a band-aid, a temperature check, or a call home to a parent for a forgotten lunchbox. The ideal candidate will, with oversight, ensure a few students come to the desk to receive prescribed medication as needed. From greeting visitors and answering phones to supporting attendance, coordinating schedules, and helping solve the unexpected challenges that arise throughout the day, you'll play an essential role in keeping our school running smoothly. You will be responsible for other administrative duties as assigned, including but not limited to supply ordering and maintaining a tidy reception area.
YOU MUST HAVE:
A genuine enjoyment of working with children, families, and colleagues in a school environment.
Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
The ability to remain calm, organized, and professional while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced setting.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
Proficiency with common office technology, including email, calendars, spreadsheets, and cloud-based applications.
The ability to exercise good judgment and maintain confidentiality.
A positive, solutions-oriented attitude and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
A high school diploma or equivalent.
Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances.
IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:
You have experience working in a school, nonprofit, or other customer-facing environment.
You have medical experience or a medical background.
You have experience working with children or supporting attendance, scheduling, or administrative operations.
You are CPR and First-aid-certified or willing to become certified.
You enjoy solving problems, improving processes, and finding ways to make things run more smoothly.
