Inspire the Next Generation: Physics Instructor
Opportunity:
We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Physics Instructor to join our dynamic Science Department for the 2026-27 academic year. This full-time, exempt position offers the opportunity to teach a variety of high school physics courses, tailored to your expertise and the department's needs. You will play a vital role in nurturing students' scientific curiosity and equipping them with the knowledge and skills for success in the 21st century, specifically in the field of physics.
Responsibilities:
Deliver engaging and rigorous physics instruction to high school students, incorporating 21st-century skills and innovative teaching methods.
Develop and implement physics curriculum aligned with departmental standards and student learning objectives, including laboratory experiments and demonstrations.
Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that encourages student participation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills in physics.
Mentor and guide students in their academic and personal growth, particularly in their understanding of physical principles.
Collaborate with fellow science teachers and faculty to enhance the overall educational experience, focusing on integrating physics with other scientific disciplines.
Utilize technology effectively to enhance instruction and student learning in physics (Google Apps proficiency preferred).
Contribute to the vibrant life of the school through participation in extracurricular activities and events.
Potential for coaching opportunities with a supplemental stipend.
Attend occasional after-school, evening, or weekend events.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Physics, Physics Education, or a closely related field.
Teacher certification or equivalent (preferred).
Demonstrated experience in high school physics instruction, including laboratory work.
Proficiency in Google Apps (Drive, Docs, Gmail).
Exceptional verbal, visual, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong organizational and presentation skills, particularly in explaining complex physics concepts.
Commitment to the mission and values of Houston Christian High School.
Ability to represent the school positively.
Energetic, creative, and a vision for academic excellence in physics education.
