Saul Mirowitz Jewish Community School is seeking a part-time, student-centered, and engaging math teacher for 7th and 8th-grade students. We are looking for an educator who is passionate about middle school learners and excited to teach mathematics in a collaborative, inquiry-based environment that fosters critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, and skill development. While candidates do not need to be Jewish for this position, we seek a team member who embraces a joyful Jewish culture and values experiential learning within a diverse and inclusive community.

Primary Responsibilities

• Center instruction on the academic and social-emotional needs of middle school learners.
• Teach 7th and 8th grade math using engaging, research-supported instructional strategies that meet individual student needs.
• Foster a classroom environment that supports inquiry, collaboration, emotional safety, and joy in learning.
• Collaborate closely with middle school colleagues and support school-wide initiatives.
• Communicate regularly and transparently with families about student progress.
• Prepare report cards and participate in family conferences.
• Participate in required team meetings, faculty meetings, and professional development opportunities as scheduled.
• Perform limited school duties, as assigned.

Requirements

A bachelor’s degree in education or similar is required, and a master’s degree is strongly preferred. Ideal candidates have experience working with middle school students, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent written and oral communication skills, exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, superior interpersonal skills, a sense of humor, and a positive demeanor.

Compensation 

Salary is competitive with area independent schools and commensurate with experience. Funding exists to support continuing education and professional development.
