Ursuline Academy is seeking a dynamic and student-centered English Teacher to join our faculty. This role is responsible for teaching a range of English courses across grades 7–12, including courses such as English 7, English II (World Literature), and advanced offerings, including AP English (Literature, Language, and Seminar). The position offers the opportunity to design engaging learning experiences that strengthen students’ analytical reading, writing, and critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Delivery
- Plan and deliver engaging instruction in English courses across grades 7–12, including AP-level offerings
- Design lessons aligned with departmental standards and incorporate literary analysis, writing development, and critical thinking
- Facilitate thoughtful discussions around literature and guide students through the writing process
- Incorporate varied instructional strategies, including differentiated and technology-integrated approaches
- Utilize a range of assessments, including writing assignments, projects, and evaluations, to measure student learning
- Reflect on instructional practice and implement new pedagogical approaches to enhance student learning
Student Learning & Support
- Provide timely, specific, and actionable feedback to support student growth, particularly in writing development
- Differentiate instruction and assessment to meet the needs of diverse learners
- Offer additional academic support and skill development as needed
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and structured classroom environment
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date student records
Collaboration & School Responsibilities
- Collaborate with English faculty on curriculum development and departmental initiatives
- Communicate regularly with families and partner with student support teams to monitor student progress
- Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events
- Perform supervisory responsibilities (e.g., study hall, lunch, or other duties as assigned)
- Contribute to the broader school community through co-curricular involvement
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, or a related field (advanced degree preferred)
- Minimum of 3 years of high school English teaching experience; AP experience preferred
- Proficiency with educational technology, including Google Workspace for Education
