The School in Rose Valley (SRV) is seeking to hire a Learning Specialist for preschool through sixth grades for the fall of 2025. This is a unique opportunity to work for one of the oldest progressive schools in the United States and be part of a collaborative and supportive community.
As a member of the Student Support Team (SST), led by the Coordinator of Learning Support, the Learning Specialist provides school-wide and individual academic support for students with extra needs. Responsibilities would include push-in, small group, and individual math and writing support for Kindergarteners through Sixth Graders. The anticipated caseload is approximately 25 students. While the majority of the Learning Specialist's responsibilities are dedicated to elementary, as a member of SST, the Learning Specialist may be responsible for consulting with Preschool teachers.
Qualified candidates will have a minimum of a bachelor's degree and three years of successful teaching experience, as well as a strong understanding of child development and early childhood and elementary education. A background in special education is preferred. Ideal candidates will have an understanding of, and passion for, progressive philosophy and practice. The ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff, parents, and the public, is essential.
