We are excited to announce an opening for the Director of Strength & Conditioning at Saint Xavier High School. This will be a full-time, 12-month position with typical hours Monday-Friday 7:30am-4pm. Summary
The Director of Strength & Conditioning is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing comprehensive fitness, conditioning, and wellness programs that support the physical development, performance, and overall health of all students. This position is responsible for the oversight of the Mueller Fitness and Weight Center, including training, scheduling, daily use, and equipment maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
Organize and oversee school-wide strength, conditioning and wellness programs for students of Saint Xavier High School.
Establish, communicate, and enforce clear guidelines for safe and effective weight room use.
Provide instruction and expertise to coaching staff, PE faculty, and weight room supervisors on proper equipment use and care.
Teach appropriate techniques and exercises to all who use the weight room.
Conduct regular equipment checks for strength and conditioning equipment, performing minor maintenance as needed.
Coordinate major equipment repairs, replacements, and additions, including budgeting in cooperation with the Athletics Department.
Schedule and manage the use of the Mueller Fitness and Weight Center to balance the needs of athletic teams and the general student population, ensuring structured access that prioritizes sport-specific training during in-season, off-season, and pre-season.
Ensure opportunities for non-athlete students to engage in wellness and strength activities.
Collaborate with coaches to design sport-specific and athlete-specific training programs that help students meet nutritional needs, manage energy, and train sport-specific muscle groups.
Promote collaboration among coaches, faculty, administration, and support staff to enhance physical fitness and athletic performance initiatives.
Collaborate with the Athletic Trainers to execute safe and effective rehabilitation of sports related injuries.
Develop performance tests to help students and coaches evaluate growth and improvement.
Use performance test data to establish and monitor individual and team goals.
Create targeted programs that support the development and injury prevention needs of multi-sport athletes.
Maintain a professional and positive presence in all interactions with the school community.
Comply with all KHSAA, school, and departmental policies and regulations.
Participate in ongoing professional development to stay current with strength and conditioning best practices.
Participate in school-wide events, including religious services, retreats, and other faith-based activities.
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of Athletics, Principal, or President.

Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Sport Science, or related field.
Master’s degree preferred.
Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist with NSCA.
Knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, injury prevention, and rehabilitation principles.
Experience designing and implementing strength and conditioning programs for student-athletes.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage students, parents, and colleagues.
Ability to work independently or collaboratively in a school environment.
Proficient in email communication, word processing, and presentation software, including tools within Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
This position requires a background check, and the employee must complete the Safe Environment Training course offered through the Archdiocese of Louisville. The course must be completed within 30 days of employment.
