The Lycée Français de New York, a world-leading independent bilingual K-12 institution, invites aspiring educators to apply for the La Passerelle Fellowship. This one-year immersive program is designed to train scholar-practitioners to teach in a plurilingual, pluricultural environment.

Compensation and Benefits:
Salary: A paid, full-time position (Annual Gross Compensation = $50,000)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Objective:
To immerse fellows in the faculty culture of the Lycée Français so they learn by doing the work of a teacher in our international, bilingual school. They will benefit from mentoring and continuous professional development coordinated by La Passerelle's Director with external education experts and Lycée educators. The Lycée's Portrait of a Teacher represents the professional standards our fellows will strive to attain.
The Fellowship Trajectory
The Fellow learns by doing, moving through a scaffolded progression of responsibility:
Phase 1: Immersion & Inquiry (Trimester 1): Attend the Back-to-School Summer Institute (4 days). Shadow your Mentor, observe diverse classes, and begin planning your "Problem of Practice" Capstone Research Project
Phase 2: Co-Teaching & Application (Trimester 2): Move from observation to co-teaching and substituting in Secondary classes. Engage in video-based self-reflection and weekly pedagogy seminars.
Phase 3: Solo Practice & Capstone (Trimester 3): Execute solo teaching lessons, provide student feedback, and present your final Capstone Research Project to the department and cohort.
Essential Duties & Expectations
Pedagogical Growth: Participate in weekly seminars on the art of teaching multilingual students and meet weekly with your Mentor for debriefing and reflective practice.
Community Engagement: Attend faculty meetings, grade-level meetings, and staff training sessions to fully immerse in the faculty culture. Fellows may be called upon to substitute within the department they are assigned to.
Professionalism: Model respect and promote positive interactions with students and colleagues, upholding the school’s mission and Diversity Statement.
Career Preparation: Draft CVs, practice interviewing, and prepare demo lessons for future recruitment processes. Successful fellows may obtain employment at the Lycée following the program.
Education: Master’s degree in an academic discipline of need (or equivalent professional experience).
Bilingualism: Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in both French and English.
Work Authorization: Legal ability to work in the United States. Note: No visa sponsorship is provided for this position.

Tech Forward: Experience using Artificial Intelligence in an educational context and competency with Google Suite.

The Lycée Français de New York is a nursery through twelfth grade coeducational, bilingual, independent day school in Manhattan, serving 1,370 students.
