The Speyer Legacy School seeks a dynamic, innovative, and passionate full-time Science Associate Teacher for the Lower School. The candidate hired will report to the Head of Lower School and will be responsible for collaborating with faculty and staff to teach in support of the school’s mission and curricular goals. The ideal Science Associate Teacher is motivated to learn what they can about classroom teaching; they possess creative problem-solving skills, flexible thinking, a sense of humor, enthusiasm for supporting children through innovative curriculum design and classroom management, and have strong interpersonal skills that allow them to cooperate and collaborate effectively with others.
Duties & Responsibilities
Work with the Science teacher in the preparation, planning, and implementation of the Lower School Science program.
Run small group instruction, assist the Science teacher in whole group instruction, and support individual students while they work.
In collaboration with the Science teacher, contribute ideas, resources, and instructional strategies to strengthen and evolve the Lower School Science program.
Support the Science teacher in the daily life of the classroom, including maintenance of the classroom.
Assist in implementing classroom procedures, routines, and building class community.
Support student parent teacher conference and report card preparation which includes gathering student data, meeting preparation, and narrative descriptions of students' profiles, interests, areas of growth, and needs.
After consulting with the Science teacher, collaborate in communicating regularly with families about classroom happenings and student progress, class newsletters, and/or participate in parent-teacher conferences.
Attend faculty meetings and professional development.
Meet regularly with the Lower School Dean to collaborate on planning, implementing, and reflecting on instructional strategies within a supportive coaching framework, with a focus on continuous professional growth and effective classroom practice.

Bachelor’s Degree in education or related field required.
Master’s Degree or working towards an MA preferred.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $59,750 - $63,850 based on years of teaching experience.
Hours
7:45-3:45 Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, & Friday
7:45-4:45 Tuesday for faculty meetings
Attendance at evening events such as Curriculum Night, Admissions Open Door Event, and Graduation.
As this is a professional position, some preparations will need to take place outside of regular school hours.
