The Middle School Spanish Teacher is responsible for delivering a rigorous and developmentally appropriate Spanish curriculum that supports students’ academic growth and fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and intellectual engagement. This role contributes to Westminster’s mission by supporting the academic, social, and ethical development of Middle School students in a collaborative, student-centered learning environment.
The Middle School Spanish Teacher works closely with colleagues in Professional Learning Communities to design instruction, develop assessments, and engage in ongoing professional reflection. Faculty are expected to participate actively in the life of the Middle School, including advisory responsibilities and collaboration with students, families, and colleagues.
In this role, the teacher serves not only as a content expert but also as a mentor and advisor, contributing to a learning community that values academic excellence, inclusivity, and meaningful relationships. Westminster supports faculty growth through exceptional resources, including its Center for Teaching, which offers professional learning workshops, coaching, travel grants, and collaborative cohorts.

Position Status: Salaried, exempt, full-time, 10-month
Work Hours: Typical hours are 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Some weekend and evening work may be required.
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The requirements below represent the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for a successful candidate.
Two or more years of Middle School Spanish teaching experience
Experience with collaborative curriculum design
Fluency in additional languages or expertise in related disciplines
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Teaches four sections of Middle School Spanish, ranging from Introduction to Spanish through Spanish 2 Advanced
Co-teaches a 2-week immersive, interdisciplinary class during MayATL
Maintains academic proficiency in Spanish in accordance with ACTFL standards
Supports learning through instructional technology
Works directly with other Middle School teachers as part of a Professional Learning Community
Supervises students during lunch, etc, on a rotating basis
Teaches and supports students as part of the Homeroom advisory program
Contributes to the larger school community through coaching or sponsoring other extracurricular programs
Other duties as assigned

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The ability to become CPR, AED, and First Aid Certified is required.
While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The work environment is often noisy.

TRAVEL
Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel may also be required and is associated mainly with planned events, conferences, and professional development opportunities.
Driving a Westminster vehicle may be required for this position.
