Phillips Academy seeks a continuing Instructor in Classics beginning in the 2026-2027 academic year. Candidates must be prepared to teach all levels of Latin and Ancient Greek, as well as at least one elective accessible to non-language students (examples might include Homeric epic in translation or ancient history). Candidates with the ability to teach in one other academic department will be prioritized. Specific assignments generally comprise three or four sections. We seek dynamic candidates who will be active participants in the academic, athletic, and residential programs. Master's degree plus minimum of three years teaching experience preferred.
Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. Please visit our application portal to submit a résumé/CV, copies of academic transcripts, and cover letter (addressed to Benjamin Temple, Dean of Faculty). Please do not send materials directly by mail or e-mail.
The Phillips Academy community is defined by our motto, non sibi, which means “not for self.” With this guiding principle, students engage in outstanding academic, student life and co-curricular programs. The Phillips Academy Constitution charges the faculty to teach “youth from every quarter” to aspire equally to knowledge and goodness. The ideal candidate supports this commitment. In your cover letter, please address directly your experience and interest in working in such a school community.
