Eagle Hill School, an independent boarding school in Hardwick, Massachusetts, seeks a reading teacher to join the faculty for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will hold a degree in either Education or English with a concentration in reading and possess an innovative approach to curriculum design and instruction. The position will include responsibility for teaching a variety of levels of reading courses. Eagle Hill School seeks educators who are eager to participate in the academic, athletic, and co-curricular activities of an innovative and engaging boarding school community.
As a boarding school, Eagle Hill School sees great value both in classroom instruction and in the shared life of the campus. In addition to teaching duties, modest evening and weekend duties (e.g., advising a club or activity, coaching, supervision of shared spaces) are required of all academic and student life faculty.
Responsibilities:
Use a variety of instructional strategies to guide students towards becoming successful readers. We have a particular interest in applicants who have knowledge with Orton-Gillingham, Wilson, or Structured Word Inquiry approaches to reading instruction.
Motivate and inspire students to cultivate a love for reading.
Have an interest in teaching courses on reading comprehension and reading fluency.
Incorporate technology and other resources to enhance student learning.
Collaborate with colleagues to continually revise and implement the curriculum to adjust to diverse learners.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and colleagues about student progress.
Engage in the boarding school community and co-curricular programs as well as provide inspirational and innovative education in the classroom setting.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher).
Readiness to teach all levels of reading.
Support students as they solve problems and think critically.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues.
At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred.
Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
