Salary Range: $40,000 - $70,000 plus benefits. If housing is included, additional residential faculty duties will be added.

Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is seeking a highly qualified College Counselor to join our team of dedicated faculty members. The College Counselor plays a pivotal role in guiding high school students and their families through the complex college admissions process. This position requires a deep understanding of college admissions trends, financial aid, and standardized testing, as well as a passion for supporting students' academic and personal growth. The ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, highly organized, and possess the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, faculty, and college admissions representatives.
Responsibilities:
College Counseling Class:
Implement a college counseling course
Be available for two Student Meeting Blocks (SMB) per week
Write report cards, including course comment, student comment, and recognition statements
Take attendance (SMS is Renweb)
Update Canvas LMS with information, assignments, and missing/completed work status
Student Advising:
Provide individualized guidance to students on college selection, application strategies, essay writing, and interview preparation
Develop personalized college lists based on students' academic profiles, interests, and career aspirations
Counsel students on standardized testing (SAT/ACT) and help them develop test preparation plans
Support students in identifying and pursuing scholarship opportunities
Maintain regular communication with students and families throughout the college application process
Financial Aid assistance, scholarship search assistance, FAFSA & CSS Profile
Update Canvas LMS with student work and progress
Write report cards for students at the end of T1 for 12th grade, and T2 and T3 for 11th grade
Program Development and Delivery:
Guide students in the Path of Purpose program, which is designed to ensure that each student effectively engages in the school program and develops a college resume
Develop and implement workshops and presentations on various aspects of college admissions for students and parents
Organize and facilitate college visits (virtual and in-person) for students
Collaborate with faculty to ensure alignment between academic programming and college readiness
Stay current on college admissions trends, policy changes, and best practices
Administrative and Communication:
Manage and update student application data using Scoir or similar college counseling platforms
Write comprehensive counselor recommendations and coordinate teacher recommendations
Track list of faculty asked to complete letters of recommendation\
Act as a liaison between students, parents, and college admissions offices
Prepare and submit all necessary documentation for college applications, including transcripts and school profiles
Track student application progress and outcomes
Send out regular College Counseling updates and newsletters
Collaborate with the Director of Communications to update the school profile as needed.
Standardized Test Administration (SAT & ACT):
Acts as backup test coordinator for both SAT and ACT
SAT & ACT Test Dates: 8-12 test dates in the fall and spring
Provide Academic Dean with test data
Coordinate Test Prep Class with Academic Dean (completed in March for 11th graders)
Active Program: Participation in the Active Program will be based on background, skill set, and availability. It will likely include fall and spring outdoor trips and participation in our Interim program, a two-week immersive course of study.

The Colorado Rocky Mountain School (CRMS) is a college-preparatory independent high school located thirty miles northwest of Aspen in the mountains of western Colorado. CRMS’s average enrollment is 175 students in grades 9-12 from various countries.
