Punahou School is currently recruiting a Part Time Temporary Math faculty member. Faculty members are responsible for designing and delivering effective classroom instruction; attending regular conferences with colleagues; and meeting with students during office hours to provide extra support. The ideal candidate will have the ability to adapt to diverse classroom environments; be capable of the smooth delivery of ongoing instructional programs; and thrive in a team-oriented and collaborative environment. Position Details:
Work Year: 9 Months
School Year: 2026-2027
Work Hours: Variable schedule: Monday – Friday, between 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, schedule may vary based on operational needs and part time status
Faculty Salary Range*: $59,790 - $120,828 - Compensation commensurate with qualifications, Salary will be prorated based on actual FTE
*Punahou School offers a comprehensive total rewards program that includes competitive pay. The pay rate reflects the range of pay for faculty, which is dependent upon educational attainment and years of relevant experience.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree required in Mathematics or related field.
Thorough knowledge of content including through at least high school Pre-Calculus.
Demonstrated familiarity with curriculum, teaching methods and assessment frameworks in the subjects and age ranges; and age-related expectations of students.
Ability to administer and interpret a variety of assessments.
Working familiarity with assistive technologies, Internet and Email systems, word processing and spreadsheet software.
Familiarity with computers (Apple) and their use in instruction to enhance student learning.
Working knowledge of various office and video equipment.
Knowledge of educational software.
The ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications:
Three (3) years of experience working in a high school setting.
Experience with teaching Pre-Calculus, AP Statistics, Differential Calculus and/or AP Calculus AB courses.
Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds; an understanding of the developmental needs of adolescents and sensitivity to each individual student’s needs; the ability to appreciate the variety of perspectives offered by all members of the community
