The mission of Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy, & Research Institute is: “We are a pioneering STEM institution where education, research, and outreach inspire and empower advanced and curious learners.” Talcott Mountain Science Center & Academy is seeking a highly motivated, personable, and detail-oriented Development & Alumni Manager.
The Development & Alumni Manager is a key member of the administrative staff, providing essential support to the organization’s fundraising and outreach efforts. Across all departments, work at Talcott Mountain is defined by a commitment to innovation, mission-driven storytelling, and the cultivation of a vibrant, supportive community. In this role, the successful candidate will oversee the success of a robust annual fund campaign, coordinate impactful fundraising events—including the annual Talcott Together dinner and auction—and collaborate on compelling grant applications. Additionally, this position serves as the primary steward of the organization’s fundraising database and the lead coordinator for alumni engagement, ensuring that former students and families remain a vital part of our community.
Talcott Mountain Science Center, Academy, & Research Institute’s campus is located in Avon, CT, featuring a unique mountaintop environment. The compensation for this part-time, salaried role is between $35,600-$37,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience. The complete position description may be viewed here. The successful candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal and relationship-building skills, with a proven ability to communicate effectively with a broad range of stakeholders, from high-wealth donors to government officials. Highly organized and proactive, the successful candidate will demonstrate a firm commitment to the organization’s mission, a strong sense of personal initiative, and the ability to manage complex projects with integrity and confidentiality. Requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of three years of comprehensive fundraising experience (preferably in an educational or non-profit setting), and direct, hands-on experience with Blackbaud’s Raiser’s Edge NXT. The successful candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have access to reliable transportation for occasional regional travel.
