About the Position:
Beaver Country Day School is seeking a Facilities Technician. This position reports to the Director of Buildings & Grounds and works as part of a team to maintain the school campus in a safe, functional, and well-maintained condition. This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM. At times, some weekend work may be necessary, and hours may vary slightly depending on events and seasons.
Key Functions and Responsibilities:
Perform routine maintenance, minor repairs, and preventative upkeep across all building systems.
Troubleshoot and resolve minor plumbing, electrical, and HVAC issues.
Assist with set-ups and breakdowns for academic & athletic events.
Work with B&G team to maintain the campus grounds (snow removal, leaf collection, gutter cleaning, landscaping projects, playground repairs, athletic field prep, trash pick up, etc.). May include use and repair of power equipment. Experience with a skid-steer is a plus.
Escort and oversee outside contractors to assist in the efficient fulfillment of their duties.
Conduct daily walkthroughs of campus to check for safety, cleanliness, and readiness.
Responsible for the organization and cleanliness of the department's tool room, shop, boiler rooms, and utility areas.
Coordinate maintenance/inspections of school vehicles and conduct minor repairs.
Provide backup for other B&G staff in their absence.
Proactively identify and update preventative maintenance schedules and procedures to prolong the lifespan of the facilities and equipment.
Other duties and projects as assigned by the Director of Buildings & Grounds.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent required. At least three years of building maintenance experience is preferred.
Demonstrated proficiency in carpentry with knowledge of electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and/or automotive repair.
Availability to respond to after-hours emergencies.
Proficient in verbal and written English.
Possess a valid driver’s license.
As a condition of employment, must pass State and Federal background checks and have a clean driving record.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk (up to 15,000-20,000 steps/shift), stand, bend, sit, kneel, stoop, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. The employee is occasionally required to work at heights, climb, or balance. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Winter storms in the Boston area may require hours of time out in cold weather, doing heavy lifting when clearing snow. Salary Range:
