Description
The Lawrenceville School announces a job opening for a Math teacher. We are seeking enthusiastic, energetic, collegial individuals who want to work with both adults and students in a collaborative and inclusive academic setting. Experience teaching a range of courses, including Computer Science or post-Calculus electives, is a plus.
The Lawrenceville Mathematics Department encourages students to develop an appreciation for the inherent beauty and utility of mathematics, as well as facility with constructing and evaluating mathematical arguments, using mathematical models to describe real-world phenomena, and making decisions in the face of risk and uncertainty.
It will be a condition of your employment that you occupy School-provided housing, so that you will be available to fulfill the School’s needs with respect to faculty supervision of our students.
Essential Responsibilities
Teach four sections/two to three preps per trimester.
Two seasons of coaching or equivalent co-curricular commitment, including at least one season of interscholastic coaching (or the equivalent).
Advise five to eight students
One evening a week of “House duty,” providing supervision in a student residence from 6-11:30 pm.
Faculty who reside in School-provided housing are expected to spend eight years living in one of the residential houses at some point in their career, although not necessarily starting their first year.
Chaperone a weekend activity (dance, coffee house, etc.) two or three times a term.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mathematics or related field; Master’s degree preferred
At least five years high school teaching experience
A passion for teaching mathematics
A passion for working with high school-age students.
The strongest candidates have the ability to teach upper level math courses including Honors Statistics, AP Calculus, or post-Calculus electives.
Demonstrated success planning and facilitating collaborative, student-centered learning experiences
Background in and commitment to culturally responsive teaching
Experience with effective use of technology in the learning process
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication (oral and written) abilities
Ability to work collaboratively and independently, as needed and appropriate
Proficient computer skills, including familiarity with Google suite and Microsoft Office suite
Experience in curriculum and assessment development
Demonstrated success in providing timely, effective student feedback.
