In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, this .75 FTE position's annual salary range is $56,250- $80,000. When extending an offer, Nightingale considers factors such as (but not limited to) the position's scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, and market and organizational considerations.

The Nightingale-Bamford School seeks a Dance Teacher sabbatical leave replacement for the Fall Semester 2026-2027.
This is a part-time (.75FTE), temporary, exempt position starting on August 31, 2026
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
Teaching 8 + sections of Dance in the Lower and Middle Schools with the potential of teaching and Upper School Dance History Class
Ability to create and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that complements existing K-12 dance curriculum
Willingness to be an active participant in the Professional Community including weekly meetings (Tuesdays 3:30-5:00)
Complete grade reports (Lower School in December; Middle School in January).
Ability to manage class sizes of 25 students and maintain a safe, supportive space for all dancers
Contributing to curriculum development and revision in collaboration with other faculty
Pursuing appropriate professional development to build content knowledge, incorporate new pedagogical approaches, and keep current in the field

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Dance or a related subject, MFA preferred
Embodied dance practice and expertise in ballet, modern, and jazz
Three to five years teaching Dance at the elementary or middle school level
Excellent classroom management skills
Employing best practices of pedagogy

Founded in 1920, Nightingale-Bamford is an independent school for girls, enrolling 679 students from Kindergarten through Class XII.
