Punahou School is actively recruiting a temporary, full-time Science Faculty member for the Fall 2026 semester. The faculty member will have the ability to teach biology and/or chemistry. Faculty are responsible for classroom instruction, laboratory design/setup, conferences with students and colleagues, and active participation in the work of the department on curricular development.

Position Details:

• Work Year: 9 Months
• School Year: 2026-2027, Fall Semester
• Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:30 AM – 4:00 PM, Schedule may vary based on operational needs
• Faculty Salary Range*: $29,895 - $60,414- Compensation commensurate with qualifications, Salary will be prorated based on FTE

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in sciences, education, or related fields. Master’s degree preferred.
• Three (3) years of experience in teaching high-school aged students in particular subject area/s.
• Ability to provide high-quality instruction in high school Biology and/or Chemistry across a range of levels, depending on candidate expertise and departmental needs.
• Strong knowledge of principles and methods for high-quality high school science curriculum and curriculum design, teaching and instruction.]
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a commitment to being a proactive, solution-oriented colleague who contributes to a positive and professional school culture.
• Experience working with a variety of formative and summative student assessment tools.
• Experience working with and supporting a wide range of student abilities and learning styles.
• Proficiency with computers (Apple) and their use in science instruction to enhance student learning.  
• Working knowledge of word processing and presentation software, along with learning management systems such as Canvas.
