National Presbyterian School, an independent co-educational elementary school (Age 3 through 6th Grade) located in Washington, DC, is seeking a full-time Math Specialist for the 2026-2027 academic year.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in math instruction and will have had experience in a leadership role in this area. This candidate will also have exposure to a variety of math curricula and best practices in math education. In addition, the candidate should possess the skills and passion necessary to inspire learning and enhance the overall educational experience by fostering students’ academic, ethical, social, and emotional development in accordance with the National Presbyterian School mission, philosophy, and Core Values.
The Math Specialist will participate fully in the life of the school. They will collaborate with Academic Leaders to facilitate the implementation of the NPS math curriculum. Duties and responsibilities include collaborating with teachers in math instruction and differentiation, leading whole and small group instruction, assessing student progress, communicating with parents, attending full faculty meetings, serving on committees, and duties related to the supervision of lunch, recess, and dismissal. The Math Specialist is also a member of the NPS Student Support Team.
NPS faculty and staff are committed to providing an engaging academic program in a caring environment. Throughout the year, teachers are provided opportunities to participate in both school-based and off-site professional development. They also meet with academic leaders to set long and short-term goals, and reflect on their progress and overall instructional practice. Additionally, as a new faculty member, the Math Specialist is paired with a faculty mentor for the duration of their first year at NPS
Applicants should possess a bachelor’s degree and have experience working with elementary school-aged children.
