The Speyer Legacy School is seeking a dynamic, innovative, and passionate full-time educator to serve as an Associate Teacher and In-House Substitute in the Middle School. Reporting to the Head of the Middle School, the ideal candidate will support teachers in the classroom as needed, cover classes when teachers are out, be a “pinch teacher,” and supervise students when they are not in class, all in alignment with the school’s mission and curricular goals. The candidate should possess a desire to work with Middle School students, creative problem-solving skills, a sense of humor, classroom management skills, and strong interpersonal abilities to collaborate effectively with colleagues.
Duties & Responsibilities
Support teachers in the classroom as needed to aid in differentiation.
Cover classes when teachers are out, including for extended absences.
Supervise students when they are not in class, including during arrival, dismissal, study hall, lunch, and recess.
Collaborate with teachers to implement lesson plans when teachers are absent.
Implement classroom procedures and routines, fostering a positive class community.
Participate in and support Middle School student activities.

Experience working with children in a school or camp setting..
Demonstrated capacity to implement lesson plans, curriculum, or activities.
Ability to establish and maintain classroom routines in keeping with the school’s stated expectations.
Ability to implement lesson plans in several content areas over protracted periods in case of prolonged teacher absence.
Capability to manage and redirect student behavior with firmness and kindness.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively with students, colleagues, and families.
Capacity for collaboration and a willingness to learn from others.
Comfort giving and receiving feedback to support professional growth.
Authorized to work in the United States.
Ability to attend all-day field trips.
Ability to stand and teach actively for 5-6 hours a day.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Teaching Assistant certification, degree in education or related field preferred.
Salary
The salary range for this position is $59,750 - $63,850 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Hours
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday: 7:45 AM - 4:45 PM
Friday: 7:45 AM - 3:45 PM
These hours include coaching and/or Afterschool programming, which may come with an additional stipend depending on the role
