Malden Catholic, a Xaverian Brothers Sponsored Codivisional Middle and High School for young men and women, seeks a candidate for a Grade 9-12 School Counselor position for the 2026-2027 school year. This position plays an integral role in supporting the emotional well-being and healthy development of our students by assisting them in areas of personal and social growth, academic achievement, and appreciation of spiritual and cultural diversity.
Skills/Qualifications:
• Master's Degree and Educator’s License in School Counseling Counseling 9-12.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in High School Counseling
• Willingness to support the Catholic mission of the school.
• Verbal Communication & Presentation Skills
• Self-Motivation, Flexibility, Ability to Work as Part of a School Counseling Team and Motivate Students
The School Counselor will:
• Perform as part of a comprehensive school and college counseling department. Advise and counsel students regarding academic, educational, college/career and social and emotional concerns.
• Facilitate individual and group counseling to help students build skills, coping strategies and develop resilience to manage academic, personal, social, emotional and situational barriers to learning.
• Monitor student academic, social/emotional progress and provide interventions as needed to ensure academic success.
• Provide immediate support and intervention in crisis situations, including mental health crises, family emergencies, and other urgent issues.
• Consult and collaborate with school staff, families and outside agencies to develop plans to meet student needs.
• Refer students to appropriate community resources and providers as needed.
• Educate students in areas of social emotional awareness including healthy relationships, conflict resolution, self-esteem, substance use, and other concerns.
• Model the Catholic values of the school.
