Holy Child seeks an experienced humanities teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position will include teaching fifth and sixth-grade humanities (language arts and social studies). Ideal candidates are passionate educators who value interdisciplinary teaching and the development of creative and engaging learning experiences. The position is supported by an established curriculum with the opportunity to develop lessons based on individual interests.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach fifth and sixth-grade humanities (language arts and social studies)
Serve as a fifth-grade advisor; these students will be new to the school
Engage with new technologies and methodologies for teaching and assessing
Collaborate with English and history colleagues to design/map curriculum, create interdisciplinary opportunities for learning, share resources, and evaluate effective methods of teaching; participate in regular meetings with the department chairs
Show a commitment to community and belonging
Work with the Learning Center to support students with learning differences
Communicate professionally and compassionately with every member of the community: students, families, and colleagues alike
Communicate regularly and effectively with the Division Head, advisors, and the student support team about student progress
Participate in grade-level and school-wide meetings
Attend and participate in academic conferences and required school events
Engage in professional development opportunities and the professional growth process of the school
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or above in elementary education or English preferred
Minimum of 2-5 years teaching a similar age group and related content
Experience with advising middle school students is preferred
Passionate and knowledgeable about upper-elementary education, problem-based teaching, and learning and differentiation
Strong planning and organizational skills
A strong collegial spirit and willingness to be an active member of the school community
Coupled with these credentials, the candidate will have a strong understanding of differentiated instruction, a flexible and team-oriented approach, excellent interpersonal, organizational, and written communication skills with careful attention to detail. In addition, candidates with experience in an all-girls, faith-based school and those who will embrace our school's mission of developing women of conscience and action are preferred.
