Preferred Education:
4 Year Degree
Scope: The math department provides classes up to the AP BC Calculus and AP Statistics level. It seeks to challenge students to gain a genuine understanding and enjoyment of mathematics rather than simply relying on formulas. Students grow through a combination of rigorous expectations and strong supportive teacher relationships. The department has integrated the Singapore math approach into the middle school curriculum.
Major responsibilities: The full-time or part-time position may cover classes ranging from Transition and Pre-Algebra in the Middle School through AP Calculus, AP Computer Science, and AP Statistics in the Upper School. Flexibility to co-teach a course is expected. Apart from the various preparations necessary for producing dynamic, challenging, and inspiring classes, all teachers have a range of duties. These include:
Participation in and contribution to the life of the department and broader faculty whether through discussions about teaching, curriculum, or latest developments in their disciplines;
Willing and active engagement with students outside of class through open availability for extra help, running an advisory, and running one significant extra activity (coaching, etc.);
Willingness to explore and collaborate with fellow department members and the broader faculty to design and run the school’s annual interdisciplinary programs which bring social justice, leadership, and the academic subjects together;
Other duties that contribute to the smooth running of a busy and engaging school life are expected of all faculty as assigned.
A Bachelor’s degree in math is a basic requirement.
Preference is given to those with an advanced degree and / or experience teaching at the middle and high school age. 3-5 years of experience is preferred, but a supportive department can also guide newer teachers via our Teaching Fellow program.
Above all the ideal candidate will demonstrate an ability to inspire students to a love of math and a willingness to take risks to achieve excellent results beyond their imagined capacity.
Mission: Boston Trinity Academy educates students from diverse backgrounds in an academically demanding, Christ-centered community, inspiring them to lead lives of faith, integrity, and service.
