About the Organization: The Cincinnati Squash Academy (CSA) is a sports & education non-profit that uses the game of squash to help launch talented students from underserved communities on the pathway to success in college and beyond. CSA provides year-round support in academics, athletics, and community service, and also provides cultural exposure and mentorship. CSA is part of a national network of urban squash programs under the umbrella of the Squash & Education Alliance.
Position Overview: Working with volunteer tutors, the Academic Program Director is responsible for designing and delivering customized academic support and enrichmentfor approximately 40 highly motivated, thoughtfully selected students in grades 4-12.
Core Responsibilities:
Design and deliver academic programming designed to enhance student learning, including:
Assessing students’ individual academic needs.
Establishing individual learning support plans for each student.
Providing skills-based tutoring and homework help to individual students and/or in small groups.
Recruiting, training, and supporting a team of volunteers to provide skills-based tutoring for lower and middle school students and content-based tutoring in core subject areas for high school students.
Measuring and monitoring students’ academic performance and maintaining student records.
Designing and running a two-week academic enrichment program, right after the school year.
Designing and monitoring online summer work for students with significant skills gaps.
Researching and guiding students toward appropriate summer enrichment experiences.
Cultivating collaborative relationships with the students, as well as with students’ parents and teachers, to ensure that students are thriving academically and emotionally.
Ancillary Responsibilities
Assist the Executive Director in marketing the program to current and prospective partner schools and to prospective students and their families.
Oversee college and career preparation activities (ACT/SAT test preparation, college tours, resume-building…) for students without access to those resources.
Work with the Executive Director to assist graduates and their families with the transition to college or other post-secondary programs.
Typical Work Hours:
School Year:
Monday - Friday, 11:00 -7:00
11am to 4pm: lesson planning & admin.
4pm to 6pm: tutoring & student support
6pm to 7pm : Wrap-up
Weekends:
1-2 days per month
Special programming & field trips
College tours, squash tournaments
Summer:
6 weeks PTO: July -mid-August
Job Benefits:

Facility: The Cincinnati Squash Academy’s 15,000 square foot facility houses a state-of-the-art academic center, five squash courts, a fitness center, and locker rooms. CSA’s facility is located a few minutes’ drive from Hyde Park, Oakley, and other sought-after residential neighborhoods.

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Minimum 3-5 years experience in middle or high school teaching, administrative leadership, learning support, or counseling.
Valid driver’s license
Ability to pass a criminal background check and driving record check
Skills and Competencies:
Strong interpersonal skills: ability to relate effectively to people from a variety of backgrounds
Experience with skills assessment, lesson planning, and performance tracking
Strong organizational skills: ability to plan effectively to keep students and volunteers effectively engaged
