Northwood School in Lake Placid, New York, is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time instructor/soccer coach position. Candidates should be energetic, creative, collaborative and prepared to begin in August 2026.
Specific responsibilities include:
Coach a competitive boys’ soccer team.
Plan and lead practices.
Support the development of student-athletes.
Assist with broader athletic program needs.
Teaching Mathematics, with ability to teach all levels Algebra 1 to Precalculus.
Completing grades/comments, advisor letters, and other forms of academic communication in a timely, professional manner.
Attending all faculty meetings, department meetings, and other meetings as required.
Serving as an advisor for 6-8 students, providing guidance in academic, extracurricular, social, and personal areas, and serve as the school’s key liaison to parents for those students.
Leading or assisting with an afternoon activity or sport in two of three seasons.
Overseeing dormitory duty one night per week and one weekend per month.
Attending all school functions: assemblies, formal dinners, and other special events.
Promoting the development of character, community, and curiosity in all dealings with students, including enforcing school rules.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related subject area. A Master’s degree is preferred.
Soccer coaching experience.
Ability and desire to work as part of a team.
Strong communication skills, organizational skills, and professionalism.
Teaching experience preferred, but not required.
Experience with project-based or problem-based learning is encouraged.
Desire to continue learning and growing professionally.
