Professional Children’s School, founded in 1914, provides a rigorous college-preparatory program with flexibility and adaptability for professional and pre-professional students. We serve Middle and Upper School students who come from multiple states and numerous countries, and whose interests include dance, music, acting, modeling, athletics, art, and entrepreneurship. Our students are serious about their academic studies while they pursue their professions outside of school. PCS is a “bring your own device” school and we utilize technology, including the learning management system Canvas, to support our students, particularly when their professions make it impossible to attend class.

Professional Children’s School seeks to hire an experienced full-time learning specialist. Given our students' professional schedules, candidates should be flexible, including providing robust educational materials when students cannot be in class. We are looking for a teacher who is adept at using technology for both learning and teaching, is comfortable collaborating with colleagues, and appreciates the developmental differences between Middle and Upper School students.
Learning Specialist duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Support children with learning differences through one-on-one and group work
Analyze and interpret psychoeducational evaluations and provide learning profiles to families and faculty
Identify students who need learning support based on teacher feedback and classroom observations
Serve as a resource to teachers in support of classroom student learning needs
Meet with parents and outside professionals and agencies to help organize any necessary accommodations
Facilitate accommodation processes for in-school testing and standardized testing with College Board and ACT, in partnership with parents and PCS
Coordinate extended time for standardized testing, including PSATs, SAT, and ACTs
Serve as an Upper School Advisor
Remediate reading disabilities, particularly in the Middle School
Teach a MS Study Skills course two days a week and/or a MS English Class
Collaborate with Division Heads on overall student support

This full-time position includes benefits, and the salary range is $80,000 - $100,000.
Proper credentials and experience essential; ability to work with students from grades 4-12; work includes ability to analyze and interpret psychoeducational evalutions and provide learning profiles to families and faculty, facilitate accommodation process for in-school testing and standardized testing with College Board and ACT, remediate reading disabilities, teach MS Study Skills and MS English as needed, and serve as an Advisor to our Upper School students.
