Essential Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum
Plan and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Virginia standards and Rise Academy’s instructional framework.
Teach mathematics courses including Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and Physics.
Design engaging lessons that promote conceptual understanding, analytical thinking, and mathematical reasoning.
Integrate technology and innovative instructional practices into daily teaching.
Utilize formative and summative assessment data to monitor student progress and adjust instruction accordingly.
Connect mathematical concepts to real-world applications and career pathways.
Classroom Culture & Student Engagement
Establish a structured, positive, and academically focused classroom environment.
Foster a culture of respect, curiosity, collaboration, and perseverance.
Build meaningful relationships with students that support academic growth and personal development.
Maintain clear expectations for behavior, participation, and academic integrity.
Student Support & Development
Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse learners.
Provide intervention and enrichment opportunities to support student achievement.
Communicate regularly with students and families regarding academic progress.
Support students in developing confidence, critical thinking skills, and independent learning habits.
Professional Responsibilities
Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school events.
Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices and student outcomes.

Required Qualifications
Master's degree in Mathematics, Secondary Education, or a closely related field.
Minimum of 3–5 years of successful high school teaching experience preferred.
Experience teaching Algebra I, Algebra II, Geometry, and/or Physics.
Qualified to teach Dual Enrollment courses.
Demonstrated ability to improve student achievement through engaging instruction and data-driven practices.
Experience integrating instructional technology into the learning environment.
Strong classroom management, communication, and relationship-building skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Virginia teaching license or eligibility for licensure.
Rise Academy is the East End’s own fully-accredited, independent, Christian high school. Our top priority is responding to the academic needs of our students, and we seek to equip them to become leaders and culture-makers in their school, home, and community.
Over a four year period, we offer all courses necessary for students to complete a Standard or Advanced Studies high school diploma in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Our student to teacher ratio this year is 10:1. We provide an individualized and holistic education, creating a safe and engaging learning environment for our students. Rise Academy has been fully accredited through the Virginia Association of Independent Schools since 2020.
Currently, we have graduated 106 students, many of whom have continued on to postsecondary education. Rise graduates have been accepted to and attended Norfolk State University, Virginia Commonwealth University, Mary Baldwin College, J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College, Fortis College, Butler University, Richard Bland College, John Tyler Community College, Longwood University, Chowan University, Old Dominion University, University of Mary Washington, Radford University, and James Mad...ison University, Christopher Newport University, Hollins University, and Virginia Union University. Additionally, some students have been accepted into the VA Job Corps to begin job training in many technical career fields.
