Solebury School seeks a qualified Science Teacher with experience and enthusiasm for teaching high school students to begin in the 2026-2027 academic year. An intentionally small, all-gender, independent day and boarding school serving students in grades 9–12, Solebury is nestled on a rolling 140-acre campus in the Pennsylvania countryside. Essential Functions
Teaching at Solebury extends beyond the classroom. Faculty are active participants in the academic, extracurricular, and residential life of the school. The responsibilities below reflect the core expectations and rhythms of a full-time teaching role.
Teach 4 courses per term within Solebury’s trimester-based academic schedule. Potential courses include 9th grade biology at the general and honors level, 10th grade chemistry at the general and honors level, and AP Biology
Serve as a faculty advisor to up to 8 students, supporting students’ academic and personal growth.
Contribute to the extracurricular program, a vital part of student life. Solebury uses a points system to ensure an equitable distribution of extracurricular responsibilities and a manageable overall workload, with an expectation of 4 points per year for each faculty member
One trimester of a standard after-school activity (3 days per week, 3:45–5:15 p.m.) = 2 points
One trimester of a more time-intensive activity or coaching assignment = 4 points
Meet all school calendar obligations, including availability for students during conference periods and attendance at school assemblies, faculty meetings, and in-service days
Participate in the residential life program, a core component of Solebury’s community, with duties determined by housing status
For faculty members living off campus, 3 weekends of duty per year
For faculty members living on campus, 4 weekends of duty per year and one weekly night of dorm duty
Engage in ongoing professional development while fostering strong, collaborative relationships with students, colleagues, and families
Follow the rules and regulations as set forth in the Employee and Faculty Handbooks
Support the broader needs of the school community as directed by the Head of School

Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in biology, chemistry, or related field
Demonstrated experience teaching high school students
Preferred Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in biology, chemistry, or related field
Boarding and/or independent school experience.
Experience teaching AP Biology
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
Physical: Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, reach for or otherwise move objects, including textbooks and other teaching materials. Sedentary work involves sitting, standing and walking around the classroom.
Communication: Activities include both hearing and talking to express or exchange ideas and information
Environmental conditions: Activities occur mostly inside and occasionally outside
Valid driver’s license required as well as the ability to pass a variety of background checks
