St. Anselm’s Abbey School seeks a full-time middle school science teacher to start August 2026.
Description and Requirements:
The successful candidate will teach up to five sections of science, with specific course assignments to be determined. Classes will be primarily in middle school, with the possibility of one upper school elective class. In addition to teaching, responsibilities include attending regular department and grade-team meetings, working with students in individual or small-group tutorials as needed, and communicating proactively with parents and administrators about student progress. Teachers are also asked to take on additional duties, including serving as an advisor, club moderator, and/or study hall monitor.
The middle school science sequence at St. Anselm’s includes Life Science in grade 6, Earth Science in grade 7, and Physical Science in grade 8. Classes meet daily for 40 minute periods, while the Physical Science course includes a double period once per week for labs.

Founded in 1942 by Benedictine monks, the school is located on the 40-acre grounds of St. Anselm's Abbey in Northeast Washington. St. Anselm's serves approximately 230 students and employs over 60 faculty and staff. The student body is comprised of thirty-seven percent students of color, and the average SAT score for the Class of 2024 is over 1360.
