The Country School is an independent, coeducational, PK-8 school founded in 1934 with a current enrollment of 320 students. Located on Maryland’s Eastern Shore, a few blocks from downtown historic Easton, we offer a challenging academic program in a nurturing environment focused on educating the whole child.
The Country School is seeking a passionate, experienced, and nurturing Pre-K Lead Homeroom teacher to prepare children for Kindergarten both academically and socially by using age-appropriate lesson plans, selecting effective developmental materials for the classroom, and utilizing positive behavior reinforcement. The Lower School serves approximately 188 students in grades Pre-K - 4th. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be a full participant in the life of the Lower School.
Preschool Teacher Duties and Responsibilities
- Implement curriculum
- Support creativity and learning
- Provide supervision during activities
- Select age-appropriate developmental materials for the classroom
- Provide parents with progress reports
- File incident reports as needed
Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field; Masters degree preferred but not required
- Excellent understanding of the principles of child development and preschool educational methods
- Teaching experience in early childhood; 3+ years preferred but not required
- Personal skills needed to work collaboratively with other faculty
- First aid and CPR certification preferred, but not required
