Are you passionate about teaching computational thinking and computer science to creative, inquisitive students? Are you inspired by the chance to be an influential member of an innovative educational community?
We are looking for individuals who excel at flexible and creative thinking; who see themselves as learners rather than lecturers; who have excellent content mastery as well as solid teaching experience; who are enthusiastic, highly motivated, committed, and eager to join a community that is passionate about supporting gifted children.
You will be expected to teach small classes while fostering an effective, engaged, student-centered learning environment. You will most likely teach across 4th through 12th grades as needed. Our students are passionate about computer science and often have years of experience despite their young ages! They are excited and looking for challenge.
This position is part-time but may be expanded to full-time depending on the skill set of the applicant and the courses offered.
Opportunities for growth, professional development, full-time employment, and leadership are significant as the school continues to expand in the very near future. We have an excellent benefits package and want to invest in our teachers; you will find this an exciting place to work!
YOU MUST HAVE:
Advanced mastery in computer science and coding, including Python and Java;
A Pennsylvania teaching certificate or private academic certification (may be in process; we will help qualified candidates obtain certification);
Up-to-date (less than 1 year old) clearances prior to beginning work, including Federal Criminal History, PA State Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance, Mandated Reporter training, TB test, Act 168, and any additional required clearances;
An appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children;
The ability to clearly articulate evaluations and opportunities for our students and school in both written and spoken communication, and to support school culture and positive behavior.
IT WOULD BE AWESOME IF:
You have an advanced degree in computer science or education;
You have a background or interest in robotics;
You have experience working with gifted children;
You have an appreciation of both the intellectual and the social-emotional needs of gifted children.
You can pass the Turing Test.
