Kinkaid’s Cooney Teaching Fellowship offers an unparalleled opportunity for a future educator to gain substantial teaching experience in a dynamic educational environment best known for its innovation and passion for excellence. The Fellowship is a one-year, paid internship to pair a less-experienced future educator with master teachers in any Middle School discipline to gain experience in effective lesson planning, creating an engaging learning environment, and mastering content delivery and assessment. Starting in August 2026, the ideal candidate will be dynamic, eager to learn, student-centered, and interested in becoming a full-time educator, but will not yet have the experience to be considered for full-time teaching positions. This fellowship experience is intended to help future educators develop a strong familiarity with core content, connect content to students’ innate inquisitiveness, and integrate technology into the curriculum, among other key aspects of effective instruction.
Ability to begin shadowing master teachers, and over time, gain greater responsibility in one to two sections of core academic classes
Interest in the areas of Science, Technology, or English
Desire to work with students across the entire range of grades 5-8
Commitment to becoming an active member of the school community by attending special events, athletic competitions, and arts events
Ability to coach a sport, sponsor a club, or contribute in a similar way to another student group
Passion for integrating technology into the curriculum, including applications using OpenAI
Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
Eagerness to grow professionally and remain current within the field
Bachelor’s degree in an academic discipline, Masters preferred
Experience working with Middle or Upper School-aged students, such as coaching, tutoring, serving as a camp counselor, etc.
